Our client is a subsidiary of a Dutch major bank and is active in the field of business financing, leasing of company assets, debtor financing, stock financing and credit management. They are active in 5 European countries (England, Germany, France, Belgium and the Netherlands) and have the ambition to further expand their position abroad.
The Financial Accounting department is part of the Accounting, Treasury & Tax team and is an English speaking team of approximately 20 colleagues. The team successfully integrated the two Finance departments after the merger. Some of the keywords that apply to the team are teamwork, challenge, self-development, and self-direction. As a Senior Financial Accounting Professional you are responsible for the IFRS monthly and quarterly reports to the Bank and ensure that these reports are provided efficiently and in accordance with IFRS and the bank standards. In your role you provide guidelines and guidance to the Procure to Pay (P2P) and General Accounting (GA) department with the aim of improving the process and thus the period closings. You are also actively involved in the period closings by making memos to explain the balance and P&L changes to the management. Every year, several audits are carried out by the internal and external accountant, in which you play an important role in guiding these audits. You have an active role in maintaining the internal control environment. The bank uses an internal control environment in which it is important that the key controls are maintained. It is also important that the associated work instructions (SOPs) are up to date and that the End User Designed Applications (EUDAs) are used in a controlled manner. Within the organisation they are always looking for improvement and continuously learn from their experiences. Various projects are being carried out within the Finance department, such as the migration to ONEledger. You will have an active role in the evolution of processes, both by implementing small improvements and finishing bigger projects.
You will have an important role in the further integration of the Finance department, looking for the best practices/solutions for all integration challenges that we encounter. - Master's degree in Accounting & Control supplemented with a Post Graduate degree in Accountancy (RA, CPA or similar MUST)
- Multi-year experience within a finance / accounting role
- Knowledge of IFRS standards
- Knowledge of internal control guidelines and ERP and related general ledger (preferably SAP) systems
- Speaks English and German/French would be an advantage
- Analytically strong, advisable and excellent communication skills
