Work Schedule: Full-time - 40 hours per week
Salary:€36,622 annual base salary. An additional 20.2% will be added to the listed Locally Employed (LE) Staff salary for allowances and premiums. You will receive a vacation bonus at 8.2 percent of base pay, a bonus for duty-free days at 3.67 percent of base pay and a year-end bonus at 8.33 percent of base pay. For this FSN-6 position this equates to a total remuneration of €44,020 per annum based on a 40-hour work week.
Duration Appointment: Initial contract of one year, includes a one-month probationary period, with view to extension.
Basic Function of Position:The incumbent carries out skilled maintenance and repair work to mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems throughout the Consulate office building, grounds and residential owned/leased properties in Amsterdam. Incumbent receives both electronic and verbal requests for maintenance services and ascertains all of the necessary information to determine whether the work is of a routine or emergency nature. The incumbent reports to the Building Engineer Supervisor located at the Embassy in The Hague. The incumbent is the responsible for the safe and reliable operation of the U.S. Consulate General in Amsterdam. The 20,000 square foot facility is over one hundred years old and is recognized as a national historic landmark (rijksmonument) by the host government. The position requires a broad general knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems. The incumbent will ensure that servicing and repairs are per manufacturer’s guidance, meet International Building Code standards, and that equipment is functioning at peak efficiency; will incorporate safe work practice including lock-out/tag-out procedures. The incumbent is self-directed and must be able to evaluate competing priorities for time and resources.
Experience:Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a repair mechanic or maintenance technician working with multiple building systems in an institutional or commercial building setting is required.
Education:The position requires successful completion of secondary school and post-secondary technical school diploma.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EVALUATIONS
Language Requirements:Speaking/Reading/Writing Level 3 (good working knowledge) English and level 2 (limited knowledge) Dutch is required. (This may be tested.)
Skills and Abilities:Must possess a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record. Must pass driver's medical exam.
Qualifications:All applicants under consideration will be required to pass security certification and may be required to obtain a Certificate of Conduct for Natural Persons (VOG) from the Ministry of Safety and Justice of the Netherlands.
