In this role you will advise on and coordinate complex legal matters in order to maximize and protect the interest of the Seeds Business Unit (Global & EAME). By dealing with the legal conduct of strategic and/ or corporate projects and issues relating to the business you ensure all activities are in accordance with legal standards.

The Legal Counsel Seeds acts as a member of the Flowers Leadership Team, as a functional Lead for the Legal department. He/She provides high quality, pro-active, and in-depth legal an compliance advise to contribute to delivering business strategic agenda with a focus on value creation, value protection and value capture. You will support the Lead Counsel Seeds & Traits and the Syngenta Senior Management in contributing to the delivery of strategic objectives of the Syngenta Group with a particular focus on the Seeds and Traits area. By liaising and partnering with Syngenta's business colleagues in the Seeds Business Unit you will lead and coordinate various legal matters in order to protect the interests of Syngenta from a commercial perspective(profitability). In this position you are expected to provide proficient and effective support to all kinds of Seeds related topics and projects (globally and within EAME) and to be the legal center of excellence (CoE) in the seeds area for intercompany transactions as well as direct procurement in EAME for business and other legal stakeholders. Also you will shape and drive Seeds projects as member of the designated project teams in Merger and Acquisition activities as well. For the Flowers business you will be the first point of contact on all above-territory legal matters in which you will act with sound legal judgment, experience and reasoning. In this position you are also responsible for managing claims by or against Syngenta with a view to recovering losses incurred or minimizing damages claimed.
To succeed in this highly challenging position, you must have a (post) master degree in Law with a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification work experience in a complex and demanding legal transactional work area. The ideal candidate has already gained experience with legal transactions in a commercial environment; has knowledge of intellectual property, data privacy, product liability, environmental and competition laws. Furthermore you must be fluent in English and Dutch and knowledge of German and/or French is considered a big plus.
